Spicy Salsa Recipe

Chips and Salsa is probably a main food group for me haha, I could snack on that every day so learning how to make a fresh homemade salsa was a must for me. Whether it’s an appetizer for a Mexican meal, or on your super bowl dip station it is for sure going to be a crowd-pleaser.
Spicy Salsa Recipe
Ingredients:
6 roma tomatoes
1 jalapeño
1 small red onion
1 serrano chili
2 limes – juiced
1 bunch cilantro
1 tsp salt
½ tsp garlic powder
Directions:
Step 1: Cut all tomatoes in half and spoon out the middle seeds/membrane. This helps keep the salsa from being too watery.
Step 2: In the Food Processor, add your tomatoes and pulse/chop until the tomatoes are chopped pretty fine. ** It might look a little mushy and that’s ok, its suppose too. Transfer the tomatoes to the bowl. *** I like to do the tomatoes first, and separately because of the water content.
Note: Before the next step, if you don’t like a lot of spice take the seeds out of both peppers. If you can handle a little spice, take the seeds out of just the jalapeño. If you want it spicy leave the seeds in from both peppers, that is what I do.
Step 3: Cut the jalapeño and serrano pepper in half and throw them in the food processor. Cut the red onion into 4 pieces so it’s easier to chop up in the food processor. Add the cilantro and pulse/chop until things are chopped evenly. Toss in the bowl with the tomatoes.
Step 4: In the bowl, add the lime juice and spices. With a spoon toss the ingredients together and mix. ** I like to add the spices and lime juice at the end to keep it fresh.
Step 5: Put the Salsa in the fridge for at least 20 minutes as it is best when the flavors can marinate together, however you can eat right away.
I am a big fan of tortilla chips and I feel like I have tried so many at this point but I would have to say two of my favorite brands are Siete Chips and Late July. The texture and crunch to them are amazing and so is the flavor. They are also healthy options than the regular Tostito brand etc.
So if you have yet to try either brand I highly recommend grabbing a bag next time you’re at the store. I know Late July is sold at most grocery stores. However, Siete is sold at mainly Whole Foods.
We are coming up on Super Bowl, spring, cinco de mayo etc, so many parties where Chips and Salsa are the perfect thing to put out for the party.
