My Pantry Essentials

I’m someone who likes to keep my pantry stocked at all times. I like to host a lot, and I tend to have people popping over at any given time of the week and I always think it’s nice to have stuff on hand if you didn’t plan for food that week or the extra guests.

As well as for the guests, having staples on hand for yourself or family,( again if you didn’t get to the grocery store and don’t feel like ordering out,) it is helpful.

Pantry Essentials:

Chocolate Chip cookie ingredients:

I think it is so great to always have cookie dough recipe ingredients on hand, because 1.There is nothing like the smell of fresh cookies baked in the oven when guests walk into the house. 2. You never know when you’ll get the craving on a cozy weekend, and I swear I always get a craving when I don’t have the ingredients. 3. If you need to bring a treat to last-minute get together freshly baked cookies are always a hit. Plus a lot of these dry ingredients are used for so many other things.

Pasta Ingredients:

At least once I week I would say I don’t know what to cook or what to eat and don’t want to order out and I always end up whipping up a simple pasta with red sauce. Add a little parmesan cheese and red pepper flake… there is honestly nothing better. If you don’t like marinara sauce you can keep jarred pesto or jarred alfredo, but always have your favorite jarred sauce on hand. Lastly my go too is red lentil pasta so I keep that on hand too so I can have a healthier alternative to regular pasta.

Boxed/Bagged Items:

Having dinner side options is always a great idea and I personally love the following.

Boxed Orzo – This is my favorite orzo, tasty, easy to make and perfect for a quick starchy side if that is what you’re craving that night.

Bagged Quinoa – Easy microwavable quinoa is so help if you’re looking to add more to a simple salad, stuff peppers with and of course also a great side dish.

Panko Bread Crumbs – Great for adding to chicken or meatball recipes

Chicken Stock –  I use chicken stock probably the most out of all these ingredients, it is in a lot of dishes, the basis of soups. If your vegetarian you can use vegetable stock, but chicken stock is a for sure staple.

Canned Food:

Canned beans, corn etc are other great things to always have on hand incase you want to throw it in with your soups, salad or sides. I like to have all the Mexican beans and beans you need for chili. The creamed corn is something I actually add to boxed corn bread, and there is nothing better. It makes it rich and creamy so I like to have that on hand always.

Basic Oils/Dressing:

I use olive oil every time I cook in the pan but also in a lot if not all of  my homemade dressings. Red wine vinegar is a good one to have to add to simple dressings to elevate and it adds a kick to marinates.
