Hi my loves! I hope everyone is having a fabulous start to there week! The first couple days of the week are always the hardest, getting back to a routine, getting back to work, and for me getting back to my healthier eating regimen! I tend to splurge on the weekends so right when Monday hits I like to get back to a healthier eating routine and my kale salad is one of my favorite dishes!
Have you ever tried to make a kale salad at home and then think, this doesn’t taste like the restaurants?!
At the restaurants it is not dry and it’s easier to eat, without it tasting too leafy or kale-y (that’s not a word, I know, but it is the only way I can describe it, lol)! For me there is one kale salad that I just always want to replicate and that is the true food kale salad! The consistency and texture of the kale is just soo yummy (if you have read my roasted veggie post, you’ll know I am weird with food textures and I’m a “ Textured eater”)!
Well I may have the solution for you!
I was at a family BBQ at my boyfriend’s mom’s house and his sister always brings over her kale salad. Of course, I tried it and instantly, the texture , consistency , everything about it had me thinking of the kale salad from true foods! I rushed over and had to ask her, her secret!
Well the trick she says is all in a little plastic bag and your little fingertips!!
She puts all the ingredients in a plastic bag and massages it for a good 7-10 minutes. Let me tell you this little trick is a game changer!!
I now, and you too can have that restaurant style kale salad AT HOME!!
How To Make The Perfect Kale Salad, Just Like The Restaurants:
With the massaging process I truly think the oil and the acidity from the lemon juice break down the fibers in the kale! Now I am no scientist that is just my opinion and thoughts! But what I do know for sure is it truly works and now I cant eat a kale salad or make a kale salad any other way!
It’s also a good hand and finger workout! SO SOOOO MANY benefits! Don’t even get me started on how healthy kale is for you! This salad makes me happy just talking about it….ANYWAYS!
After I massaged it through, I like to top my salad with cucumber for added crunch and then avocado for extra fat and fullness! You can really top it with whatever you want but I choose those simple add ins and WAAA LA its done! I could seriously eat the whole bowl!
I am going to see if she would want to share her kale salad recipe on the blog, because let me tell you, she also adds another fun ingredient to the bag that makes it even better!
